Being one of the most revered models in Rolex’s quiverfull family, the Daytona series was first introduced in 1949 and is going to celebrate its 60th anniversary next year.
The watch is equipped with their well-known Rolex 4130 in-house movement that was introduced around eight years ago to replace the legendary Zenith El Primero fast-beating movement that used to power previous iterations of Daytona.
Featuring fewer components than a normal chronograph with the same functionality, the movement beats at a standard frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and stores enough energy to power the watch for as long as 72 hours.
If you don’t wear the watch on a daily basis, such an extended “mileage” makes the watch more comfortable to use than other chronographs that are powered with usual ETA Valjoux 7750 calibers with their 44-46 hours of power reserve.
Well, at least you can easily put the watch into a safe on Friday evening and still find it ticking on Monday morning, so that you will not have to go into the trouble of rewinding and resetting the little gadget.
The COSC-certified timepiece sports standard for all Daytonas 40mm case with the Triplock winding crown.
Its black dial with a subsidiary seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, as well as chronograph 30-minute totalizer at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock is covered with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Just like all modern Daytonas, the Everose is water resistant to 100 meters, although it is strongly recommended not to use the pushers when under water, since they will probably leak the water inside the precious movement effectively ruining it.
The Ref. 116505 model comes fitted with the Oysterlock bracelet with Easylink adjustment system.
